Is it just me or does the world of SEO have a serious multiple personality disorder? I mean really, the last time I checked it is Search Engine Optimization which is simply the process of organic marketing to search engines, aint it?
I keep up with many blogs, read articles here and there to keep up with the times and have noticed a lot of SEO places that are publishing more about a wide variety of internet marketing avenues than simply SEO. This morning I saw an article on SEARCH ENGINE Guide that was titled Leveraging Face Book groups and there aint a stitch about SEO from what I can see?
Man, I see SMM ( Social Media Marketing) mixed in with PPC and other SEM areas.. with some information on conversions sprinkled in here and there -- all the freakin time lately. One blog I dropped by writing this, had more posts on Technorati and Blogging than anything
. As I write, the Search Engine Optimization Journal doesnt really have a single SEO post on the front page.. Eeeek.
You dont have to look far into GreyWolfs SEO Blog to get some great stuff on Adwords, Social Media, Wiki ranting and even some suggestions for Britney Spears new career choices -- I thought it was an SEO Blog? Harrumph
.
The point here is?? Well, nothing really, I am just bitching about the inconsistency because I can. I often go looking for SEO info only to be lost in a world of broader Internet Marketing topics that should be classified for what they are. Its time some of these folks renamed their websites and re-branded themselves to reflect what it is actually about
you know, optimize them.

i do like the idea of people out of SA being able to utelise SEO properly but if it gets all optimized n stuff it would probably mean i would havte find some arbitrary qualification before i could show em where to stick and how things are done.... its wrong i know, but thats business :P oooh well, fortunately ignorence is always one step in front of the online world so my fears are probably arbitrary as any above mentioned qualification... end of post rant.
