Who am I – WHO - am - I ??

Interesting. I was thinking about this today – but from a professional standpoint. I know who I am as a person, that’s not always who I am here, on the ol Blog, or out and about the SEO world. Many of us in this business have such personas and I always keep that in mind. I had to learn to fight very early on in life for one simple reason – my passion condemns me to conflict.

rant.jpgI don’t really go out looking to be a hero, but am often taken as being arrogant. We are all on our own journey here people. We all have fallibilities and frailties that can take us from the top of the mountain to the pits of despair in a heartbeat. I have had great highs and horrid lows in business and personal life as well. That’s why I have respect. I simply have too much passion.

What’s this got to do with anything?

Well, I am passionate about SEO and that’s a fact. If you want to fight about it. Whooppiee. Fine by me.
I personally think there is too much bickering amongst folks that are equally passionate about it. It could be a lack of standardized knowledgebase’s, too much ‘guess work’ outside of the TOS or simply a young industry still having growing pains. In the end there is often not a definitive answer. I dare say that is what makes search interesting at times.

Am I a Guru? I don’t think so. Do I have my own thoughts on all of this? You Bet!! Does the fact I don’t run out to conventions or go drinking with the ‘who’s who’ preclude me from attaining knowledge? I sure hope not. For those of you out there looking to be the next SEO rock star, let me tell ya something – this isn’t a ‘mine is bigger than yours’ undertaking. Like anything in life, you either have the passion or you don’t. You won’t last over the long haul without it. The next time some twit goes on about how big their office is or giving credibility to some one merely because of the nepotism that is the marketing world, run away. There are many gauges of success. Find your own.

These days I live in my country hide-away far from the bright lights of the big city. In my twenties, life was great – hard work, hard partying… success was smiling. These days I have a couple of young children that are the focus of my life. Back some 15 years ago, success was all about the ‘bling’ - but like a search engine looking to get away from a backlinks core, I am more into relevance these days. Some day, once the kids are more independent, I will certainly think about kicking things up a notch – but that’s not what it’s about. Those that are ‘skilled in the art’ have a passion and that’s what you need to be truly ‘successful’ in the end. I may seem like an ass now and again, but I am passionate about what I do and where I am. So I figure I am a pretty successfull man.... go find your own success folks it comes in many forms.

So, who am I? I am simply a guy that’s passionate about his SEO… take it for what you will

Well I was dead and gone for a while there as you know. Since my return I have gotten some of the usual misperceptions. So, instead of bottling it up, I decided to release it.

This is my personal space after all... I don't try to make much $$ here....

This is an empowering piece of material Dave. I often find myself struggling to 'come into my own' in these parts.

When you talk, I am persuaded to listen because I find more and more that what you offer isn't 'rockstar' crap. it's from something much deeper.

Thanks for bringing me closer to my goals. ;)
