Thursday Beer Break Oct 11 PDF  | Print |  E-mail

Well, it is a small offering this week at the Ol Beer break. It was a holiday weekend last week which created a yummy backlog of things to do and limited my wandering abilities…  I am also hard at work writing some goodiness that I have been meaning to finish… so here is this week’s humble offerings;

Paid Search Sucks – it seems Word of Mouth is still the most trusted method for customer acquisition and the world of Paid Search crawls in 34% according to Nielsen NetRatings.  The gang at eMarketer also had a pretty good summary on the data – quite interesting.

Mastering Conversions - The ever faithful MadHat; Aaron, went into the world of conversions this week, which is another interest area for many in the internet marketing game with; Mastering conversions by mastering perspectives.

All about Redirects - Sebastian had a REALLY great and in-depth post covering the Anatomy of http Redirects.  I have to say I have never seen anything like it – Very nice work!

Universal Search – Lee Oden posted a good piece for those not yet getting their heads around how to use the Universal Search Optimization strategies with; Small business guide to Universal Search

I Suck – or at least I must from what I was reading from Tony Wright who asked the question; Are SEO’s making too much money?

Forget Link building – It’s not everyday some one in the search world tells you that Link Building is Pointless

Social Media Marketing - For anyone that knows my concerns about the viability in Social Media Marketing for various business models, theLisa confirms that; Social media sucks –

Ebay launches social network – the fine folks at eBay, not to be left out, decided to also jump into the world of Social Networking and launched their own brand. You can join communities that are organized around various products and market types. Uh huh… this is starting to get old… yawn…

Google acquired Jaiku which is a Twitter-like service for managing all of your contacts and social activities – to which Adam Ostrow wondered; Why not just buy Twitter?

Well, that's it for the moment, I may add some more if I have time later on today - Happy Trails Ya'll :0)
