lets talk about the Google Phone. In coverage live (via teleconference at least) from the floor, Engadget kept us up to date in their Blog this morning. Ladies and gentlepeople alike, I give you the..er..um.. Android (nice name huh? all warm and fuzzy like?) Eric Schmidt started off and after the basics declared that Google is looking to create, a whole new mobile experience for users, and we're going to do that with Android. , which now is officially (leaked earlier) the name of the new offering. He went on to say; Google along with 33 other companies are announcing Android, the first truly integrated mobile operating system. ... What's particularly notable is that it's available under a mobile open source license. It's incredibly important to say that this is NOT an announcement of the 'Gphone'... we hope there will be thousands of 'Gphones' So we have no Gphone per se at this point, it is more about the operating system. That all makes sense really, there is far more value in allies than competitors sometimes in business. I am sure they will work out a deal for the Gphone some day... So what of these Gmobile OS enabled phones? Android Enabled is it? That still sounds strange.... We think this is a great opportunity for HTC to expand its portfolio. We plan to release the first Android phone in the 2nd half of 2008." Said Peter Chou of HTM. The Andriod Phone? that is still creepy. I am fur-sure sending one to Gov. Schwarzenegger!
