Dave, your interview with OneRiot is one of THE most valuable pieces about the subject!! I appreciated learning about OneRiot's PeopleAuthority that takes into account which users share links. I wonder if OneRiot considers the quality of followers in their PeopleAuthority algorithm, similar to the quality of links as a component of PageRank calculation? OneRiot's indexing, ranking decisions and spam filters lend a huge level of credibility to their results! Has this made you less skeptical? I believe there is untapped value for companies to listen to socially-relevant results that do not show up in traditional search. Your interview sheds great light about the quality of this "social search engine." As they said, "realtime activity of users of social web ... help curate our index." If one wants to enter into conversations or know what is currently at the forefront of their potential customers' minds, it sounds like OneRiot is an ideal listening tool! And thanks for mentioning my post on Real-Time Search as well as the SEMSynergy Broadcast. Virginia Nussey and I had a lot of fun discussing this new "buzz!" Also, I'm laughing that you searched for ‘latent semantic analysis’ in RTS. You're such an IR Geek, and I love you for it! :-)
