Buzz Monitoring
If it is for research, business intelligence or just plain vanity searching, there are times when we want to have our fingers on the pulse of the web on a given topic or to guage brand building activities. While there are many ways of going about this, using a search engine being the omst obvious, using some vertical search engines can also be a great way to monitor the 'Buzz'. Here are a few resources I came across that are good for such efforts;
Remember, you can track just about anything to do with people, places or things.. see whos talking about what your researching. Always an interesting adventure I find.

Surchur - allows the user to search on any terms they want, and then generates a Popurls-like page. For example, search for American Idol, and you get links to stories on social news sites (Digg, Reddit, etc.), news headlines (Google, Yahoo, etc.), pictures/video from around the Web, and products (Amazon, eBay, etc.), all on one page. |
