I had the good fortune to be chatting and playing with the ever lovely Shana last night about a variety of items from Blogging, Qualitative Research Books and Holiday Cheer (see icon) to Hot Chicks, and Ninjas. It continued an ongoing dialogue in the limited space within my cranium about the world that is Social Media (and blogging) and I have come to understand that I am a bit of an oddity in the blogging world in that I am really just writing because I am (currently) enjoying a space that I have complete editorial control over. This is not a means of branding, at least not in conventional sense, as I tend to be brash at times.
It is not a means of income as I do not sell Ad Space nor participate in affiliate angles and the like. It could be considered a networking lever, but even there, it is a select few that take the chance to do more than a passing drive-by pleasantry. Beyond that, I dont really write up how-to posts with the nitty gritty of what I do best, as I believe in teaching someone to fish, instead of giving them the fish. One can have the best paints and brushes available; this alone does not ensure joy upon the canvass. I seek to impart knowledge that can be used in many situations over the finite points of doing the leg work for the uninitiated. So what am I doing?I think of it many times as I do with teaching martial arts, there is no single solution, only variables that can be adapted to given situation with the best possible chances for success. There is no magic bullet and no written sonnet can play the tune of success. It is the wise person that takes the words and conveys them into situations in their real world in an adaptive mind. Many of us have spent time on the forums and heard many a weary traveller that wanted the simple answers of How To and paths to the traffic nirvana dreamed of by start-ups from the beginning of this sorted mess. So, in the end my fine peeps, I seek to entertain, enlighten and amuse. I am not blogging to be an A-lister or to make a few cobbles of cash. I am merely expressing the things I find of interest and would talk about with a close friend
so you dear reader, are my friends and partners on this ride through the web-o-sphere. I once started writing here because I wanted somewhere to express. Along the journey there were those that actually enjoyed my tormented lament
so now I write for not only myself, but those kind enough to follow along. Let me leave you with a quote I passed along to my fav supporter Shana (now, now Charles, shes cuter)
. The belief in an external world independent of the perceiving subject is the basis of all natural science. Since, however, sense perception only gives information of this external world or of "physical reality" indirectly, we can only grasp the latter by speculative means. It follows from this that our notions of physical reality can never be final. We must always be ready to change these notions - that is to say, the axiomatic basis of physics - in order to do justice to perceived facts in the most perfect way logically. Einstein In many ways, all we are is what others perceive us to be; as such I appreciate those that enjoy my little corner of the world and its tribulations. May I never need this space for revenue, it would ruin all the fun :0) Until next time play safe.

Thank you so much for the mention!!
Shana
Thanks as always S .... always having fun, that's what it's about.
Thanks for the good, level-headed read. And may the gods bless you with enough that you don't need to blog for revenue. It's fun but it can get murky at times.
Cheers,
Sam
What's Einstien without a Hot CHick (especially when Its the missus). I often forget some of my fellow bloggers do this madness for reasons beyond purging :0) ....
Shana talks like I am some renegade... I forget my place. I am pretty sure my readers, the few there are, are used to my tongue in cheek world... this (the blog) is where I come to get away from work ... he he
THanks for droppin in Sam
Set up a Google Alert for your name and you'll see.
I'm subscribed now, by the way. I gladly support rugged individualism.
Adios you big renegade you,
Sam
It's a hugely refreshing to find somebody writing not only because they want to, but without the shadowy hand of financial gain lurking somewhere in the background.
The blog-o-sphere is a infinitely better place because of these 'renegades'.
Keep kickin' those doors in.
Nick
You know the gig, you look in yer reader only to see the same topics beaten to death with the same stick ad naseua. I try to talk about things others may not. Have a look around, you’d be hard pressed to find a post about the ToolBar PageRank fiasco…. Hehe
@ Nic – thanks for dropping in (as always) there Nico … kind words as well. You know me by now, just having some fun around here and getting things off my chest. I am old enough to remember a song by Styx called Renegade…. Ugh… hear it ringing in my ears
I do struggle with 'pleasantries' as many will attest, but I am a stand up guy you can put your back against to fight the world with :0)
I have gotten better with age... was known for too long as an A-hole to many... hee hee
