 Well, the latest buzz on the street is about BlogRush a blog widget that promises to drive relevant traffic to your web site for free...or so the story goes.
Now am not generally the latest Gizmo proponent
. Much more of a pessimistic ranter to be honest so why am I being trendy writing about it you ask? Because I am still pessimistic of course. The last time around it was the mighty Yahoo offering MyBlogLog that garnered the interest of the blog marketing world and well
. It really never went anywhere. In reality the true value of many Social Media Marketing and Blog Marketing type systems is still more than a little unclear to me on the larger scale.
Sure, there are a bunch of high traffic sites/bloggers that will benefit, but how it will translate to the average Joe remains to be seen. Does anyone remember MyBlogLog, Squido, LinkedIn, Technorati? I even hear that MySPace is dying a slow death ( can U say FaceBook? ). Is it just me or is it all just finicky fads that are a bunch of moving targets for any sane marketer?
I am sure there are some folks getting reasonable return on their time invested in these sites, but I dare say it is not the greater majority benefiting on a constant ongoing basis and showing a ROI on the efforts.
Anyways, I shall keep playing along to see where it leads
