Well here we go. I have been hinting, ranting and whining about how web entities are being sold for alarming amounts of cash. I have also ranted at SEO providers for the Rock Star and Video Game convention mentality. The answer I surmised to putting a little perspective back in both was a little magic bullet called an economic downturn or better yet, a recession maybe.

I have been on a rant for a while about some of the crazeeee money being thrown around the social networking world. It was the Google and MySpace deal ($900 Million search deal) then we had earlier this year the NBC goes iVillage ( $600 million) and now Face Book thinks they're worth $2 Billion.

I am releasing another RANT out into the world on Monday and its, for the most part, centered around the lack of understading towards SEO in the small and medium sezed business world. The fact that it seems to be a muky world out there.
As an addition to the article, which is written and in the editors hands now, I saw a post on WMW from a MSN representative, (user name msndude) that further highlighted this problem. When discussing various penalties he said;
don't make your site look like a spam site. I'm not sure why so many people seem to think the "spam look" is in this year (maybe it's a fashion statement -- like torn jeans or something) but it's a fact that it can hurt you.
WOW. Thanks a bunch. How in the name of all that is holy am I supposed to advise a client with standards like that? A follow up post by a frustrated webmaster put it well with,
I don't think I have the "spam look" but what exactly is the spam look anyway...what are some things that give a spam look that someone like me may not be aware of.
SEO is not a legitimate practice
its a bloddy battle field.. yeeessh
